Lots of "best" or "waste your money" reviews. My experience is somewhere in between, but more about "he does what he says". For the record, I bought this because I use a Mac running Catalina and was hoping it would make it easy to transfer old family VHS recordings to digital. Simple answer: With QuickTime's recording feature, it's very easy. I have made 6 videos so far and they all migrated as expected. As I have read in other reviews of similar products, the quality of the resulting digital video is directly related to the quality of the original video. I would recommend this for use with a Mac. I can't say anything about the effectiveness on the PC.
