Review on πŸŽ’ Kelty Ardent Hiking Daypack: Canyon Brown, The Perfect One-Size Fit by Colin Watkins

Good lightweight daypack but no space for water bottles

Generally an excellent backpack with one downside. This is a great lightweight backpack that is very padded and very comfortable. I've only used it on a 17.2 mile hike. It fits 2 down bags, summer sleeping bags, a small fleece blanket and extra clothes, and there is still room in the main compartment. There are two top zipped compartments. One carried my multi-tool, compass, and power supply with ease. I tucked my cloak into another for easy access. Compression straps on the sides keep the load well on your back to make the most of the waistbelt and back panel (this pack has no frame). The only criticism is the side pockets. As far as I can tell they don't take a water bottle. Since I didn't drive alone, it wasn't a problem. I only used the side pockets for my gloves. There's room for a hydration pouch, making up for the lack of a water bottle pocket. Review Update: After my second hike I wanted to update my review to talk about the greatness of this package. This is indeed a day package. These sizes are 21x10x10 and 27L. However, the package I received is closer to 20 x 9 x 9 even when stretched. It also doesn't list the capacity of each bag, but I suspect Kelty includes the side pockets and front zips in the liter total. If you are in a colder region, you will find it difficult to use this pack overnight. It fits a lot smaller than I originally thought when trying to switch to warmer clothes for a cold night.
