I read reports about splitting firewood and of course the first screw I put in split the firewood. I removed the screw, glued and clamped, then checked the size of the screw hole with the size of the screw and the hole wasn't big enough. I drilled it to the correct size and it worked fine. For the rest of the build I matched the hole size to the screw size and had to drill about half of them to a larger size. I also drove a screw into the hole before attaching the other piece and watched the wood very closely and if I saw it starting to split or warp I drilled a bit more (just be careful not to to grow tall). Some parts had small paint chips and not too noticeable scratches. There were some imperfections in the finish on some specimens, but if you don't look closely it looks good. It's just that the build took longer than it should have due to the issues mentioned.
