I was building a homemade motor cover for my pool motor and wanted to use ABS plastic panels with sunshades to protect the motor from the sun's harmful rays. On a hot summer day at an ambient temperature of 115 degrees, the temperature of the engine cover was 159 degrees with the engine off (212 with the engine running). With a sun visor on the temporary structure, the engine's surface was 116 degrees. This will extend the life of my pool motor. I bought a 1/8" thick ABS sheet and cut it into 4 frames, then drilled holes in the sheet and attached the sunshade with a nylon bolt, washer and nut.
