I bought this adapter for long-distance experiments. I took the risk because it wasn't clear if this adapter would allow increasing/decreasing transmit power on Linux. After a lot of experimenting I figured out how to do it via iwconfig. With this adapter you CAN increase the transmission power to any desired value. You can also reduce the transmit power for use with a signal booster. You can easily change the country code to bypass FCC restrictions if you wish. I initially had some troubles with changing the country code and changing txpower, but it worked in the end. It's been a while since I've done this, but I think the trick was to put the adapter in managed mode (iwconfig wlx9 managed mode), then power off the adapter (iwconfig wlx9 power off) before changing the country code was changed, and txpower via iwconfig wlx9 txpower. 31. I am satisfied with the purchase.
