There are 3 temperatures (high, low and cold). I was concerned that low would be too low and high would be too high, but low is perfect! I haven't tried high heat as I don't think it will be good for the hair. My hair dries fairly quickly and isn't as straight as with the blow dryer. I have a very small hand, but the item feels good in the hand and is not heavy at all. At first I was afraid of burning my scalp as the instructions said something like the base under the bristles is very hot and can burn. user so I was worried about combing my hair with a blow dryer but I ended up doing it and it worked great! The item is quite bulky, but at least it has an elongated shape, so it's easier to store than a regular hair dryer.
