After reading customer reviews I decided to go for knives with plastic handles so they really don't get damaged if someone puts them in the dishwasher (*cough* girlfriend *cough*) . . They are very sharp and easy to sharpen. It's hard to find anything reasonably priced in the US, so when I needed a set I grabbed these knives. I understand the complaint about the grips; Their handles can be 0.5 inches shorter than my cheap Target butter knives. However, my non-expert opinion is that they appear to be purposely made to provide a firmer grip with the index finger over the blade, rather than a full grip with the thumb over the blade. They were very rugged when they arrived; It remains to be seen how they wear out over time. I assume they are easy to sharpen even if they get dull.
