This particular version has a tiny interlock switch on the bottom which is very annoying. Just twist it and it unlocks so it can be expanded. To stretch, I figured the best way to do it was to roll over, squeeze between my legs, and stretch to the desired height. Then rotate clockwise to lock and then fold down to sit. I have another one of these and it's a little better made, but this one still serves its purpose of being an easy-to-pack stool. I do not recommend this for day packing, hiking or mountain biking. It is too hard. I recommend this for truck camping, a day at the lake, living room chairs with footpads, card games, and backyard grills. Ideal for children. My weight is 185.
