I use these pumps for a waterfall in my garden. This is my third or fourth little giant pump of this type. They work pretty hard as it's a larger body of water. They usually last around 3-4 years but the last one I bought (through Revain) broke after around 17 months. Usually the capacitor fails and you hear a humming noise, but the impeller stops spinning. There aren't many ways to work with them - they were made to be used and then thrown away. When the pump failed before the 3 year warranty expired I notified Revain who refused and told me I would have to contact the manufacturer directly in a year. I called 800 on the pump box, left a message and got a call back from a customer service representative the next day. He started the warranty process and I had a new pump within the next week. I did not have to return the defective pump. I consider this outstanding customer service. I will continue to use Little Giant pumps and suggest you consider them for any application that requires a submersible pump. They are inexpensive, easy to install and the company that makes them stands by their product.
