Review on πŸ’§ DuPont QuickTwist WFQT130005 Drinking Water Filtration by David Edwards

Works great, economical and easy to install but had to replace leaky plastic tees

Bought after getting tired of changing faucet mounted water filters that kept cracking the housing and eventually breaking every year. I chose this Dupont filter because it seemed like it would work better with your own faucet (no need to interrupt someone while they're washing dishes when you want a glass of filtered water) and it was economical for this and replacement filters. Installation was very simple and easy with the sink wrench (useful in tight spaces). The only issue I had was a leak from the plastic tee or fitting. At first I thought I wasn't tightening it enough so I tightened it some more but the leak continued. Then I glued silicone tape to the threads and that didn't help either. It wasn't until I went to the hardware store and unsuccessfully found an equivalent brass fitting that I found another plastic fitting (at Orchard Supply for about $3) that was almost identical but had a few minor differences which you can see in the picture. Photos I uploaded. The fitting, pictured with the pink plastic bag it comes in, also includes a small horseshoe shaped clip that fits under the collar where the hose goes to the filter. Also note that the hole that the hose is inserted into contains a smaller hose-like part that terminates inside the end of the hose that is inserted into that hole. The fitting that came with the filter had neither of those two things (as you can see in the photos with the black background) which I think would have helped prevent the leak. With the faucet replaced and a more reliable hose, I no longer have leaks and am enjoying my water.

Pros
  • Easy to install; no tanks or drains required for installation
Cons
  • weak
