I am 5ft 2in and have sciatica. (I'm not pregnant.) After a recent visit to my chiropractor, I told him that I keep waking up on my stomach (which is awful for people with lower back disc problems), which I don't think was able to sleep. comfortably in any other position at night. I asked him what he thought of U-shaped body pillows and he said his patients who have them swear by them. I originally bought another brand that offered a U-shaped memory foam body pillow with a nice soft gray t-shirt material cover. Supporting my ankles with one side of a body pillow between my knees while sleeping was amazing, but not enough for me to relieve the pressure on my lower back. I left it on the couch and I'm glad I did. Then I ordered this large U-shaped body pillow and it was a miracle! When I sleep on my side, the pillow is long enough to support my knees and ankles. When I sleep on my back, I pull the "legs" of the pillow inward and do a roll for my knees to lean on, which takes pressure off my lower back. Aaaaa! At first I was afraid that this pillow would be too thick for my head and would keep my neck at a bad angle. However, this is not the case. This pillow is thick yet fluffy enough for my head to sink into while sleeping on my back to provide even neck support. I don't have to constantly adjust six queen size pillows to do the same job. The only downside is that only the white color was sold at the time of ordering. I have two dobermans that sleep with me and I don't need white sheets or body pillows because they show dog hair. But not everything can always be perfect for everyone. DOG APPROVED: If you sleep with dogs and think they won't steal your body pillow when you get out of bed, think again. My Dobermans LOVE curling up in this pillow during their afternoon nap. In the morning I make my bed on a body pillow and then my Doberman pulls off the covers so he can sleep on the soft silk cover of the U-shaped pillow. Ha! Ha! So I've resigned myself to not worrying about the dog hair showing up on the white pillowcase and having to buy it annually as it looks like three of us (me and both dobermans) will be sharing this body pillow. And that's okay with me. share love!
