After installing a utility that would allow the device to be monitored and updated, I tried various applications with this one to try and get it working. It was recognized and responded by the USB drivers and utility, so the hardware appeared to be working. But everything I tried to record video only worked for a few seconds and then just shut down. Sometimes restarting the recording application would allow me to try again, but usually I had to physically unplug it from the USB bus and plug it back in before it worked or responded again. Sometimes it was necessary to restart the computer before it was recognized again. The device itself was nice and small and I really would like it to work. As many other reviews point out, it gets hot pretty quickly. Attempts have been made to resolve issues by contacting Magewell Technical Support. Due to the time difference, the answer will not be given until the next day. After several back-and-forths, where I had to repeat the same key points multiple times, support finally decided that the unit was defective and that I should send it back for a replacement. They then sent me a list of step-by-step instructions on how to start the RMA process. Why does it have to be so unnecessarily complicated? Contacted Revain and they immediately accepted this as a faulty return and even provided a nice printable returns label in no time. Thank you Revain for the great customer support! I finally decided to switch to another vendor's product which was a bit more expensive, but I feel I made the right choice in choosing a different device, which was available within minutes of plugging it in worked correctly. .
