Review on Vet Recommended After-Surgery Wear: E-Collar Alternative for Cats and Dogs by Sarah Wilson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good alternative for dogs who cannot/do not want to wear e-collars.

I bought the XXL for my nearly £70. GSD after having surgery to remove her breasts. She has removed her e-collar in the past and it tends to irritate the skin on her face due to drooling and moisture retention. Also, she is in a house with several dogs. Although e-collars prevent them from licking their stitches, they don't prevent other dogs from doing so. Our vet recommended we try an old t-shirt, but since the incision was about 10 inches long and ran between her legs, it wasn't entirely effective. very light (comparable to a thin t-shirt). Someone else mentioned that the straps crisscross so they don't fall off. We actually tied the ones closest to her butt a little looser which caused her pants to sag, but the material didn't shift. on the way as she walked outside. It went through the washer and dryer and is still holding up. A pair of ties either snapped off or burned (I found pieces on the floor) but there were enough straps left that it wasn't a problem.
