We bought these because our cat was scratching and scratching a wound on his back, removing the bandage and reopening the wound. Because it was behind her front paws, the pubic cone didn't really work. So we tried these cat shoes. First let me say our cat absolutely hated her. She was constantly trying to shake them off, bite them off, or get rid of them in any way she could. After we put them on tight (the first time she took them off in about 10 minutes) they lasted about 3 days. Now, for two of those days, she hid under our bed and sulked. We ended up having to go after her so that she could get food, water and a pot. When she finally managed to take one off it was healing enough that we tried to let her go without it and luckily she didn't scratch it so the wound healed. So if you absolutely have to torment a poor kitty by putting booties on him, they are very suitable for a big cat. If necessary, they can remain in place for several days, although the cat will try to remove them.
