Review on πŸŽ₯ Gator Cases 21-inch Creative Pro Bag for Adjustable Shoulder Strap Video Camera Systems (GCPRVCAM21) by Tyler Spencer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The build quality is excellent - the design quality is not so good.

I really wanted this case. I love Gator products and have a lot of them. The build quality is always excellent and the overall design is good. They seemed to miss this one point. Good first. This is a very difficult case. With a folding handle and good wheels, this would be a great travel case to carry your camera and a limited amount of gear. A nice feature is that if you're installing more than one kit, you can remove the entire interior and replace it with another (although I've never figured out how to buy additional inserts). The padding is good but so thick it takes up too much space. There's a rain cover (reversible for reflective or black) and several different straps that I couldn't figure out what did. It has a strong zipper (good), but it's very tight (bad). It has pockets on the outside and inside, but they're so thin they don't really hold much stuff. The bags are practically useless. There is a laptop sleeve - also quite thin without much padding around it. The laptop sits right on top of the hard case - I don't think that's a safe bet. There's actually only 7.5 x 22 inches of usable space (and 8 inches deep), which isn't really enough to safely carry a lot of gear. . There are some movable partitions, but only if you use a long partition (one that runs lengthwise from top to bottom). If the baffles were better designed, you could remove the long baffle and get a few inches more usable space. Instructions/suggestions for use would be nice. There are lots of foam blocks (for safety nets I think) but I had no idea how to use them effectively. There are also color-coded tabs that might be interesting to use, but again they don't give you any idea of how to use them effectively. The video on their website shows how to download another product. I even tried remapping it to carry mics and cables, but that didn't work very well. If you're looking for a secure way to carry your camera around without a lot of gear, this bag is for you. If you need a case to carry all your gear, I don't think this will fit. Throw in a premium price and it will be difficult to rationalize the purchase. For the evaluation I used the processing quality with 1/3 points (5 stars); Design 1/3 (3 stars) and usability (2 stars) to get 3 points. If it was another company I would probably give 2 stars.
