This cat seat was easy to assemble and at least one of my cats loved it. (She doesn't let the others in.) I like that I can attach it with either Velcro strips or screws (for wooden window sills). I don't want to put holes in the rocker panels so we'll see how well the strips hold up. The brackets are plastic but appear to be quite sturdy and you can place them as far or as close to the wall as possible. The cover is removable but is firmly attached so it won't slip off. I turned the reel away from the window as we have a special needs cat who can fall. LOVE that there are no suckers. I recommend this window seat for all kitties.
