Review on Audio Technica AT VM95C Moving Turntable Cartridge by Louis Loebis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great offer from Audio Technica! Easy to install! Better than Ortofon 5S

I had an Ortofon on my turntable but didn't like the design. The recommended value is 1.75 g (VTF), but I had to set it to 1.5 g because at 1.75 g the case back scratched the record surface. I tried several different Ortofons (including OM10) and it had the same problem! My old Numark that I've had for 20 years had the same Audio Technica stylus and it never gave me any problems. And I'm pretty rough with pens. I always buy records at flea markets and in dumpsters, and while I clean them fairly well, they can be rougher on the needle than a brand new record. It was easy for me to install the AT-VM95C and the cassette. I just loosened the screws in the head and took out the old pickup and then screwed this one in. Of course, I used a protractor to make sure the needle body was lined up correctly. The sound is great! No more problems cleaning the plate surface and my AT-VM95C is set to 2 grams! I was originally planning to upgrade to the AT-VM95EN, but this stylus sounds so good I can just leave it as is.
