I buy to take with me on a trip to Africa. When we travel, we like to take two adapters with us so that we can charge several things at the same time. These adapters were slightly different than others I've purchased. The photo shows the front and top holes on the connector. We could only insert our American plugs into the top slots. You can usually also plug them into the lower holes on the front of the adapter, but this one doesn't allow that. We tried both the plain US fork and the thick/thin fork, and no push, twist, and push could get them to retract. This became a problem for us as one of the US plugs we had was quite thick and the international converter was inside the plug and when plugged into the top of this adapter the adapter couldn't fit fully into the socket. We spent the entire trip running all of our cords through a small plug that fitted on top and didn't press against the outlet. I hope that's clear. In addition, many wall sockets in other countries are not flush with the wall, but built into the wall. We couldn't use this type of outlet at all. Put simply: beware, this will not work with bulky plugs or wall outlets.
