I took a chance and bought this particular box for the full price of $29.99. A total waste of thirty bucks. The box is quite well made, especially when compared to obviously lower priced fakes. The door is basically very easy to open (hence the one star). But when the door is slowly and casually opened - which I do - you see the VERY obvious fake spider sitting there crumble into it before TALKING on the VERY obvious wire or stick. My mindless instinct was to open the door casually, but before it was fully open I could already see the spider in all its deception and saw just as immediately that it wasn't real - even before it came out. He does not "crawl" as shown in the film; it shows up. When you have to instruct people on how to open it, you are essentially announcing that something is hiding in the box, thus removing the element of surprise that defines this gag toy. However, if your victim opens the door quickly, the spider will fly out so quickly and slam the rubber body onto your hand before you can even realize what it is. I tried several times and found that I had gotten into the habit of opening it just half enough that I could see the spider resting there without popping out. It might be cute (though I don't know why). not out of fear, of course) maybe for $5 - if delivery is free. Even that is a waste of five bucks in my opinion since it's not a toy. It will be thrown in the trash or in a thrift store as soon as my grandkids see it and show no interest, which will happen immediately.
