When I hooked up my pre-aeration and seed irrigation system, I noticed a lot of water flowing through my drain hole in the relief valve. I've never worked with Backflow and consulted YouTube. As it turns out, I came across this backflow kit and ordered it from Revain. I pretty much rebuilt the entire reflux with the parts included (a new reflux term I learned in the process). I have removed, cleaned and replaced the check valves (including poppets) and replaced the diaphragm, piston and o-ring on the relief valve. I basically used the entire kit to replace whatever I could in the reflux. The main leak from the tear hole had stopped, but drops were still flowing at a rate of 1 drop every 5 seconds. I think this recovery kit may suit some depending on the specific problem (probably check valve problem #1). Anything related to this kit can be considered a "band-aid" at best. This will probably help me get through the season, but I will eventually have to buy a new return to fully fix the problem. The total cost of the part was probably around $5, so the $35 price seems a little high and didn't completely solve my problem.
