I tried to buy the same model twice and both had the same problem. The instructions state that a few sample batches of dough should be made and run through the product to remove any grease or metal fragments left behind in the production process. After that, the roller should be safe to use. I kept trying with many batches of dough, but no matter how many times I rolled the dough through the machine, the dough picked up black streaks around the edges where the rollers meet the sidewall. A closer look at the strips turned out to be steel splinters that came loose from the roller as it turned. I checked again that everything was installed correctly and it seemed to me that the roller was really rubbing against the wall, but it was impossible to adjust. Incidentally, I noticed that the gears that transfer the power from the crank to the reels are made of plastic, giving the whole thing a very cheap and fragile look. Not at all what I expected from a pasta machine recognized as one of the best Made in Italy brands. I am very disappointed with this purchase and will most likely go for the Atlas model.
