I purchased these plastic spheres to use as mini spheres when teaching the Latitude and Longitude Mapping module to Earth and Environmental Science students. Using wet-erase markers, I had the students draw the equator, prime meridian, and lines of longitude and latitude on plastic balls. Engaging students in hands-on learning worked well, although it would have been better if they were a bit taller. Later, when I taught chemistry, I used them as "electrons" that were transferred or shared when bonds were formed. Students were much more willing to participate when they had a physical object to share (as opposed to holding hands to bond like I had had them do before). I also used these balls for scoring during reps. Games and various demos. It is very helpful to have a number of small colorful objects in the classroom. I keep finding more uses for them!
