I've built and upgraded many, many cabinets and in general how well the slides work is very much tied to the how accurately the cabinets are made. The vertical panels where the fixed element of the slides are mounted, must parallel to each other and spaced correctly. In my opinion, undermount slides tend to work better and are easier to install than side mounts slides but they are also expensive. So when cost is a critical concern, side mounts are the way to go. Compared to other soft closing side mount slides I've used, these work better and the cost is attractive. It's super important to measure the spacing side to side between the mounting points and shim as necessary to make sure the slides are parallel when installed. The soft close mechanism has a limited amount of closing power. When the slides are out of alignment and you include the weight of the drawer with contents, the retraction mechanism cannot do it's job.
