I bought this for my little one's evening music because she kept getting in the CD player and destroying CDs. To work on a Mac, you can't just plug it in because the Mac doesn't recognize the device. The user manual says that you should download Open MTP (free) or MacDroid (subscription) first. Once I selected one of them and downloaded it, it was easy for me to transfer the music files. Sound quality from the device leaves a lot to be desired, so be sure to plan on listening through speakers or headphones. In addition, the device only comes with a USB charging cable and earplugs. If you want to plug into an outlet to charge, you'll need a USB wall charger. If you want to connect a speaker, you will need a male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable. Bluetooth is also available, but I haven't checked this feature. As a side note, I had to connect to Wi-Fi to set the time and date correctly.
