lots of padding, well made

I have been into martial arts for almost forty years. For most of those years, I've typically hit with my bare fists (on gloves, heavy pads, and a heavy bag). Sometimes when I wanted to do a lot of laps on the bag, I wore minimalist gloves (like MMA gloves) just to keep the skin on my knuckles intact, but no gloves otherwise. As a karate practitioner I wanted to develop strong punches without having to wear gloves to develop my hands and wrists to be able to do this. It was good politics. I now have very strong arms and the ability to punch with whichever part of the wrist works best. but now I'm older and I have a lot of kilometers on my hands. The inevitable arthritis of my hands and wrists has made me wear pads when I hit for the past several years. These gloves are ok. they replace the pair I liked better because they had an open thumb so you could place your thumb properly over the other in your fist. They were very broken and I can't find this style anywhere. So they have a common problem - I can't clench my fist properly while putting it on. but all decently padded gloves have this problem. They offer a reasonable hand configuration at impact, the padding is thick (which I don't like, but I'll admit I need it), and the wrist straps are there to provide support when you need it. they look very smooth. The palms are designed with holes for easier drying. I received the 12 ounce gloves and found them to be quite comfortable. I'm a female, 145 lbs, with fairly large arms (for all the punches) and I don't wear bandages underneath. So keep that in mind when deciding which ones are right for you.
