Ordered women's medium (8-10) for a hot ski trip. The fit is a bit thinner/closer than I would have expected from an activewear pant. They had a very fitted look at the back, with just enough room at the bottom of the leg to feel loose and snug around my ski boots. I could wear these pants for days of skiing with just a mid-weight base layer. You may want to go up a size if you plan to work in temperatures below 30-25 which may require an extra layer underneath, or if you prefer a looser fit. Before purchasing this brand/size I looked at many similar options. They seem to have the best reviews for style and price. At the same time, I knew exactly what other reviewers had shared. I was careful with the zippers, keeping in mind that the seams might tear. I haven't experienced any of these problems. Most of the time I've been in the mountains I've been teaching little kids to ski. This involved a lot of kneeling, crouching and sitting in the snow. These pants held up perfectly. Even if I sat in the snow for a while, I felt very comfortable in these pants! I would love to keep using them!
