The product will not work if you just place your phone on it - you have to gently place the phone on the base and then move it a few inches at a time until you notice the 'Charge' icon appear on your phone. so you know it's actually charging. It works if you place the phone in the right spot, but if you bang it in the middle of the night etc, the phone stops charging.
