They're different and that's why we like them. We have two with bath towels and one with a hand towel. They rattle against the wall and ring like bells if you're not careful when removing the towels. It doesn't bother me too much. You will need to unscrew the round part of the stem so the triangular part can be put on. One of the bars we received had a VERY difficult round part to unscrew (which you have to do to assemble the joint). The only way to remove it was to use these heavy duty pliers and a towel to grab it. We really had to hang all three poles and it would be a hassle to send one back. In any case, this removed some of the black trim and exposed the silver metal underneath. Not ideal for our new bathroom, but we're working on it.
