Review on Tripod Adapter WizGear Smartphone Smartphones by Raquel Syafitri

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice but get the right size!

I plan to use it for long hikes and bike rides where every gram counts. It's simple and easy. I was concerned that it only has one tripod screw on the end and therefore it might fall over on a small tripod with the phone in portrait mode. But it has a tripod screw both at the end and in the center back, so combined with my lightweight Joby Gorillapod flexible tripod, I can mount the phone at any angle without the need for a heavy pan head, and with a nice sturdy mount to go with the phone-centric tripod. While lighter than other models with swivel mounts etc, it weighs 1.4 oz (40g) instead of the incredible 0.3 oz as advertised. A word of warning: the text on the Revain page doesn't seem to provide any information on the phone sizes that will fit the large and small versions of this adapter. I ordered a large one and it's too big to hold my iPhone 5S sideways and too small to hold it lengthways. I plan to upgrade to a larger phone soon so this will work for me later. The packaging clearly states that this is for phones 3-4 inches wide (with a case if you have one). At 3″ it just hangs, and at 4″ you really stretch it to the limit, so something in between is best. It would be very helpful if Revain would post this information on the website! I just searched again and found the size range but only on the 2nd product photo and not in the specs. The large fits 3 to 4 inches and the small fits 2 to 3.5 inches. Since it will be a little loose (and can slip out in portrait mode) if you are at the very bottom, if your phone and case are about 3 inches then go for the smaller one where you are more towards the middle of its spring. Reach and hold your phone tight.
