Used when my daughter was a newborn under the cradle. It really helped her calm down (along with rocking the bassinet) while she fought her colic. We've found that it's best to turn it on before you put it to bed rather than putting it to bed and then turning it on because it activates her startle reflex and wakes her up. We ended up not using it for more than the first two months of her life, but for that time it worked fine. He's quite fat so he picked up her backpack and gamble as well as her mattress in her crib, so be aware if you're the type to worry about such things.
