Review on πŸ“Έ MMoment MU50 64GB Single Pack USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Data Storage Thumb Drive with Read Speed up to 90MB/s, Compact Size Memory Stick, Modern Matte White (64GB-Single Pack) by Amy Fowler

The specified maximum writing speed is deceptive, but the device is quite competitive in this price range.

This device exceeds h2testw's 117 GB capacity and writes and reads without errors. It comes in FAT32 format. The sustained read speed in h2estw is actually the claimed 100+ MB/s, which is pretty fast. However, the claimed maximum writing speed is only achieved during early recording. Sustained writing is only about 12MB/s. This discrepancy is not unique to this element. To get sustained high write speeds, you may need to purchase a SATA SSD and a SATA to USB3 adapter. Note that the PNY 480GB "SSD" flash drive also has write speed issues, so it is a must to buy a fast SSD like those used to replace hard drives. In this price range, the drive is competitive with other similar devices. The keychain hole is a good size, but I'm not a fan of removable covers that can come loose or get lost. I usually use these drives as permanent backup storage, so I can't rate their reliability under repeated writing conditions. I reformatted it to NTFS, which slowed down the read/write speeds somewhat, probably due to the different cluster sizes (any reformatting or other changes to the device are at your own risk).

Pros
  • USB sticks
Cons
  • Waiting too long
