I ordered these in a size 7/8 for my child, they were too big so I ordered the next size down and I like them, but I will still keep the larger size so that she will have a pair when she grows up in them, because they have elastic at the waist, I don't have to worry about my child having trouble unbuttoning his pants. I would say the thickness is just right, not too thick then my kid won't sweat too much or anything.
