Soft, stretchy and great price!

I am very happy with this sweater! My oldest dog is 17 and really cold now. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and figuring out what size to buy for him. He is 30 pounds, 20 inches long (neck to tail), 15 inches at the neck, 25 inches at the chest. Since his body is long but slim, I was afraid that 16 would be too short (only goes to his waist) if I wanted the body to be closely covered to keep him warm. On the other hand, I was afraid that the 20 might be the right length but would be too baggy on the body. I was reassured by the reviewers who said it is a very correct size, cropped but stretchy. I went for 20 and am SO happy with the fit. It's long enough to cover his entire back and thighs. The bottom is a bit bulged, but that's not a problem. It fits him perfectly around his neck and between his front legs. Not loose, not tight. Mind you, his fur fills out part of the fabric. If he had short hair, I think it would be too loose. I like its burgundy color. I love that it hangs down the sides a bit like a blanket, although I can see why some people prefer rounded edges. It's a little unusual in that regard, but then again I was worried about keeping the old dog warm, so that worked for us. I would also like to add that this sweater is soft, stretchy and VERY easy to put on and stay in place! I got him dressed in about 10 seconds and he is very unsteady on his feet and not used to wearing dog coats either. I didn't have to adjust it at all and he's been wearing it for a few days now. He seems very comfortable and is definitely warmer in this than his previous coat which was too short for his body and made of a thinner fabric. It also didn't interfere with his toilet activities, which is obviously important. I would definitely buy more for our other dog!

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Not as bulky as other options
