The quality is not what I had hoped for. Experience less than 1 year.

In April 2014 I ordered a replacement for the worn out reels on a Deere L110 purchased in 2003. My old reel bearing had failed and the reels were tipping under the belt tension causing uneven cuts. pumped them up with fat and mowed them for the entire 2014 growing season. In the fall I noticed that one blade was slightly tilted again, resulting in a height difference of about 1/2 inch. I have Bermuda shorts and I cut them 2 inches, so 1/2 inch is a big difference. After mowing 3 times it's a year with fresh blades, it's clear that I have to replace the spindles since I can swing the blade around its axis. A word of caution from my experience, I have Bermuda shorts and they are thick. I keep them fertilized and I water and it's normal for my Deere to mow 2 inches even with sharp blades, so I'm probably pushing the reels with more force than the average user. The original deer spindles lasted 11 years. These lasted 1 year. My local dealer had Deere reels for about $60 each. They cost about $25 each. I'll let you do the math. In addition, it takes about an hour to remove and then reassemble the deck, belt guard, pulleys, blades and spindles. I've seen several people complain about the spindle not knocking. It's not, and they don't realize it. However, it is fairly easy to use Deere genuine self-tapping screws to thread these spindles.
