The stand is heavy and very sturdy. However, it has a lot more flex in it than I expected. It says it is rated to hold up to 380lbs. I hung a hammock chair on it with the the seat just below waist level. When I sat in the chair the frame flexed to the point that the seat of the chair was only about a foot off the ground. The chair plus my weight is around 250lbs, well below the limit. In order to have the chair hanging at a normal height when sitting in it, I had to hang it higher which made it very difficult to climb into.
