If you want your door to stay open, use it!
They are great for keeping doors open. If there is another door behind the door (e.g. a closet), it is sometimes difficult to place the magnet. For one door, we had to place the magnet very close to the hinge because of the door itself. It still works! I would just like to reduce the magnetic lock on some doors because they hold so tight that it takes a lot of effort to break the magnetic lock on them.
