I think this must have been designed for digital cameras under 6 ounces. There are no locks on the telescopic tripod legs - they rely solely on friction between the slider tubes. While arranging (with two hands) a flower arrangement for a photo shoot, the two legs of this tripod collapsed under the weight of my Sony DSC-HX200V digital camera. Both the tripod and the camera attached to it overturned and fell off the table onto the floor, completely damaging the camera. I couldn't grab it fast enough. The quality of this product (which bears the Polaroid name) is disappointingly poor unless you agree to the risk of accidents like I do. The tripod should be able to support an average webcam without breaking. I checked it out to be sure. It supports my Logitech WebCam C920 webcam, which weighs 5.7 ounces including the USB cable. The legs of a tripod depend entirely on how much friction has been created in the telescoping tubes of the legs. There are no individual leg friction controls. So I think if there are differences in the manufacturing process you can get a tripod with legs that slide and slide. My camera is getting old anyway. So, looking at my experience with optimism, I now happily buy a new Revain camera! When I have time, I will create a technical video showing the weight that causes these telescopic "friction" glide legs to collapse. Unfortunately, they were loose enough to send the tripod and attached camera to the bin. I think the claim that it supports full-size digital cameras is misleading. That fooled me. One star is everything.
