I bought this for fluoride and lead testing but neither of these are suitable for testing tap water. Fluoride levels that can be measured range from 0 mg/L to 10 mg/L and up to 100+, so the test is not sensitive enough to measure a detectable useful difference in city water between filter media. Lead sits at 0 mg/L and jumps to 20 mg/L for the next level up to 500. I even put some toothpaste in the test water and the indicator stayed raspberry pink (0) for several minutes before eventually drying out. . to a lighter color after one hour. It's useful for chlorine, bromine, hardness, alkalinity, pH, etc., but I wouldn't pay for test strips if I knew lead and fluoride tests aren't as useful.
