Connection Order Important
It does what it is advertised to do. It converts HDMI to L/R Audio & Video. However, the small instructions lack steps. 1) Connect the A/V cables. 2) Connect power. Pay attention to the colored stripes. 3) Connect the HDMI cable. If the HDMI cable is not connected last, the device will not convert the signal and the A/V signal will not be played. I think the power then HDMI sequence is key.
