I just wanted to correct what I saw in the reviews. It's true that if paracord is to be sold to the military (aka MIL-C-5040) it must have a colored thread identifier, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's of higher quality, it simply means it's made for Sale is marked to the military and likely has a stricter quality control threshold. The requirements of MIL-C-5040 (or at least those relevant to this discussion) are to use a total of seven 630 denier filaments (denier is essentially a measure of the mass of yarn per meter), 3-ply filaments for its core and that it contains a distinctive colored thread. (It's also limited to a few primary colors: black, brown, etc. One of the easiest ways to tell it's not MIL-C-5040 is if it comes in pink). A commercial cable is NOT REQUIRED to comply with these measures. but it often works. In this particular paracord, the inner strands are 2-ply, not 3-ply, and therefore do not meet MIL-C-5040 standards. That's not to say that this isn't a very durable cable. Personally, I've had this cable under a recent 400 lb static load and haven't noticed any damage or warping, but I wouldn't really rely on it to save lives. "Trade cord" is not a dirty word. There are commercial cable manufacturers that have higher standards than the cable requirements of MIL-C-5040. Military manufacturers try to make things cheap, aligning themselves with minimum (but strict) government requirements. Outdoor enthusiasts are often willing to significantly increase the price to get something even tougher. I use commercial climbing paracord and while I fully trust MIL-C-5040, the commercial cord is of much better quality. Excellent. This material only uses 2 ply internal threads but is strong, well made and good looking. I would trust him with anything but a life-saving app. I have already used this material for a monkey fist project, a braided dog leash and a few other things and am already ordering more. As for any paracord projects I will be working on or general fastening needs, this stuff is amazing. Buy with confidence. If anyone wants to add corrections or other information, I'm sure it will be of great help to buyers.
