I live on the south east coast where humidity is always very high even in winter, so keeping the filament dry is always a problem. When not in use, it is sealed in airtight containers with plenty of indicator desiccant. When used, this "dryer" is a working solution. Pros: It heats the air inside the box, which lowers the relative humidity. This prevents the thread from absorbing moisture and allows it to pull back if the thread is already damp. There are rollers at the bottom to allow the printer to unwind the filament as needed. It has a simple but not very intuitive two-button controller under the display. for setting temperature and time. The display is large, bright and easy to read from any angle. Load and unload spools of thread quickly and easily. It remembers the previous settings after switching on and off. The bad: The heater has to be heated up to 55 degrees Celsius. That may be true on the heating element, but the hottest spot on the aluminum heat spreader only reaches 41 degrees after two hours at an ambient temperature of 23 degrees. The air in the box only heats up to 31 degrees. It's just not hot enough. This device does not have a fan. It is based on convection. The controller uses the same button to turn on and off and set the temperature. I end up having to fiddle with it a bit before I can change the temperature. The box does not close well. The two halves are slightly misaligned and therefore do not fit together exactly. Holes for feeding the thread are not thought out. One doesn't bind well and opens the lid, and the other is in a weird spot that's not particularly useful. I had to remodel mine. I'm glad I have it. This works well enough to keep the floss dry during use, which is all I wanted. There are better solutions if you just want to dry the thread.
