Let's Cut to the Chase

I love scissors - I have many, many different types, even every type of decorative scissors I've ever seen. As much as I love them, I'm very rough with them. Okay, I kind of abuse them. Hello, my name is Katherine and I don't like scissors. My demeanor is to the bone - you see, I don't just cut paper. I cut everything. The same scissors. I don't know why I do this - I have several different utility knives, razor blades, metal snips, saws, airplane shears, electrician's scissors, etc. For some reason I still reach for scissors all the time - and the scissors don't love it. They "ring", fall apart at the hinge, the blades become very dull, and so on - just don't cut the mustard. You might think I'll learn that, but no - I'll just buy more scissors. Always cheap scissors. (Except for my Cutco super scissorsโ€”those things swing, cut, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen them myself.) Finding strong, sharp scissors at a reduced price means my job is done for me. (I hope this doesn't get boring.) Unfortunately I had to let my last pair rest. I take full responsibility - it was good scissors - a cut above in fact, but my insane expectations of them prematurely exhausted them. (That's when I realized therapy might be in order to cut it, but I digress.) I decided to ordering a few different pairs so as not to be unprepared. I think I finally found some that cut mustard - and they're pink so they look spicy. I've had these scissors for a long time (6 weeks or so) but so far they're fantastic! They endured everything I asked of them and were ready for more. The fact is that the blades are of good length, they are nice and sharp. When I cut a metal pin with them, only a slight nick was left in the metal, which didn't affect their work. After cutting thick chipboard (cardboard), they could easily return to cutting plain paper. So far I am satisfied with these scissors - they are definitely great. Oh yes, and here's another tip: if you notice that your scissors are getting dull, fold a piece of aluminum foil (repeatedly) and cut it. The more the better. This sharpens the blades. To make the scissors cut smoothly, do the same with a piece of wax paper. This keeps your scissors "oiled". and cut smooth. Cutting and Drying: I would buy them again. Westcott Pink Ribbon Stainless Steel Scissors are simply wonderful - some scissors can even cut themselves.

Pros
  • Lightweight and comfortable ambidextrous design
Cons
  • Crumpled Scissors
