MY EXPERIENCE HOW TO MAKE GOOD EVEN BETTER.
I immediately liked the sound, but the pads seemed uncomfortable to me, so I bought a pair of non-original speakers. Much better, but the sound quality has deteriorated. I bought a cheap 2-tube amp, the sound got better. I then replaced the standard bulbs with a pair made in the USA. Now the ATH-M40x really shines. Don't get me wrong, the sound in these headphones was very good. I just wanted more convenience and the best sound they could offer at a price I could live with. My total investment was about $235. I'm a very lucky tourist.
