So I bought my 10 year old daughter a 3Doodler pen first and the first one never worked. The second worked for a day and then kept clogging until we couldn't use it anymore. It was uncomfortable. Those little plastic sticks don't last long either. I don't think part of the problem was that it ever got really hot, which was probably for the kids' safety, but if that doesn't work then what's the point? However, this pen is perfect. It really works. It's easy to use, has different speeds and temperatures, and I think the end result will be more durable. Yes it's hot enough to burn skin but my daughter is old enough to understand and not hurt herself. Because it heats up, it runs quietly and doesn't clog. She is having so much fun with this pen and the plastic coil that goes inside is so much more convenient than the little sticks that come with other pens. Plastic spools are cheaper and since it's a long spool it feeds itself and you can really finish what you're doing. So far this pen is perfect! Highly recommended.
