I bought these to hide the thin light cord and extension along the top panels and side post of the outdoor gazebo we assembled. Unfortunately they never held their stick and in the end they all jumped out at any resistance. I first tried about 20 and they all came loose shortly after the cables were reattached. Then I tried again with twenty more and let them "dry" for another 24 hours (now that I knew where to put them). However, the extra time for the tape to set didn't seem to affect their ability to stay in place. I've since tried a completely different approach, to keep the cables in place and hide them. I would think they would be fine for holding a light cable or wire unless the holders actually need to support some real weight or resistance. Otherwise, it might be best to consider another product or solution.
