These shoes are very roomy, particularly suitable for wide feet. I ordered a 7 1/2 wide (C/D) in white for walking and errands. They don't pinch or pinch my toes or the area just under my toes, which is often a problem for me with shoes. I've tried them on with thin socks but I'm sure they will work with thick ones too. A simple style seems much better to me than chunky athletic shoes that have too much in the design. From the reviews I read I was expecting more cushioning throughout the insole; However, there is good arch support. I probably won't need to put in my hard orthopedic insoles. Lots of cushioning in the heel area. Just shifting my weight to my heel, I felt it. I understand why this style has been around for at least 20 years and why so many reviewers have said they have bought many pairs of these shoes.
