Review on ๐Ÿฆˆ Smoke Shark Robotic Vacuum with Quarts by Robert Moloney

High quality Roomba at a much lower price

Background: Let me start by saying that I have had two Roomba robots before (first a cheap Roomba and then an 800 series Roomba that I paid $600 for and which broke after two years). Disappointed with how quickly my expensive Roomba broke, I bought a much cheaper $200 Ecovas unit. I found the performance of the Ecovas to be inferior to the Roomba (unit stuck more often), so I decided to try the recently released Shark unit (which I ordered directly from the Shark website). Shark Review: Overall I think the Shark 750 is significantly better than the Ecovas unit I currently own and is similar in quality to the Roomba. In fact, the Shark device offers several improvements to my Roomba. Navigation: I found the Shark unit to have the right height profile to avoid snagging under furniture (similar to Roomba). Ecovas got stuck under my kitchen cabinets, some parts of the bed frame etc. There were a few times when the shark seemed to get stuck, but for a while it squirmed and managed to free itself. The shark also appeared to be able to navigate that extra thick rug that my dog uses. Cleanability: I have hard floors (wood and tile mix) and a 2 year old lab that spills a lot. I found the shark to be pretty good at picking up dust/hair. The twilight shark basket has these pointed edges which I find reduces tangling of long hair around the brushes. The Roomba 800 series has tangle-free rollers that you can pull hair off of, which I really like, but I'm not sure it's worth $600 compared to the $350 Shark. Side Brushes: The Shark has two side brushes versus just one on my old Roomba (I think two is better than one). The Ecovas also had two side brushes, but I found the bristles tend to get tangled. The Shark block has 1 long strand and 2 short strands which looks a bit odd but I think it helps keep the bristles from getting tangled. Band: This was something new that I didn't have with Roomba or Ecovas. The Shark unit comes with a magnetic tape for zoning unwanted areas. I have these electrical cords under my desk that the Roomba and Ecovas are always getting tangled and pulled on. I zoned the area with tape and it seemed to be effective against the shark (see image). It's not the prettiest thing, but I'll take it upon myself to unravel vacuum cords. (Note that I used up all the tape they gave me, so if you have a larger section or more areas you will need to buy more tape). Mobile App: The mobile app worked flawlessly once I connected the Shark to Wi-Fi. I was able to schedule cleaning sessions right from the app. (Note that I initially had some trouble connecting to the wifi and had to try multiple times). Verdict: At $350 (which is what I paid) the Shark 750 delivers similar performance to the much more expensive $600 Roomba I had. earlier and significantly better than the $200 Ecovas. I also like the magnetic tape solution to separate the electronic cables.
