I bought this recorder last summer to replace an old Olympus that I had for several years. I use this recorder to backup our local Kiwanis club meetings as I am the editor of the club's newsletter. I set up this Olympus like the old one and it works great. The microphone is quite sensitive even in noisy environments. What I like is that it uses two AAA batteries instead of one battery in the old device, so the recording time is very long. Previously, after a few months of weekly use at Kiwanis, the batteries did not have to be replaced. I only give it four stars because it doesn't plug directly into the computer's USB port to download recordings, and you have to be careful opening the back cover to reveal the device's USB port. If you open the lid too quickly or abruptly, you'll find it's in your hand. This cover also serves as a stand to easily lift the voice recorder. Thankfully the lid snaps back into place when removed, but I think it could be made a little stronger. I recommend this Olympus recorder for general use and for trips like the Road Scholar, where the presenters give interesting programs for your photos.
