Essential for the trip! I bought this for my first major trip abroad and it was so helpful! I could carry my husbands and my documents in one place. The pen slot was useful, there are plenty of pockets or places to put money receipts, boarding passes, passports or whatever! It also looks great on its own. In the evening for dinner I just took it with me and my 8 plus phone fit perfectly in it. Now I want to buy in different colors!
