Had to return: mandolins and planes
The product was defective. The adjustment rod is used to adjust the cutting thickness to 1, 2 or 3 mm. I have used Kyocera slicers in the past and found setting 3 to be perfect. The device I received didn't set the thickness correctly and using cucumber slices varied from transparent to almost transparent down to 1mm - too thin. However, it may be a defective device. I sent it back and asked for a replacement, we'll see.
